Who are we?

The Walkspace Committee

Walkspace is run by a committee elected annually from the membership. The committee looks after the administration of Walkspace and keeps it focussed on the mission at hand.

Charlie Best

Treasurer

Charlie is an artist, illustrator, graphic designer and photographer. Much of her work is inspired by scenes seen while walking. She joined Walkspace as a way of getting to know a new city and has taken on the responsibility of keeping our books balanced.

Rachel Henaghan

Salons Facilitator

Rachel is a transdisciplinary artist and writer interested in the sonic apprehension of place and how it influences our movement within the landscape. Walkspace has enabled her to reconsider her practice and use walking as a vehicle for storytelling. She hosts our member salons.

Andy Howlett

Chair + Projects/Events

Andy is an artist, filmmaker, writer and founding member of Walkspace. He’s interested in the power of collective walking
to re-enchant our public spaces and forge new connections between people and place. He leads on developing our projects and events programme.

…kruse

Secretary

…kruse is an artist and writer working with walking and pilgrimage practices to generate data/ideas and is interested in the connections between landscape, mythmaking, magic and science. As secretary kruse’s main role is minute taker at our AGM and committee meetings.

Paul Wakelam

Social Media

Paul’s practice includes a meditative, repetitive element to drawing and it explores his connectedness with landscape. He’s a former architect and has taken on responsibility for our social media output.

Emily Wilkinson

Blog editorial

Emily is a creative practitioner and researcher working in writing, walking, visual art, movement, digital media and healing arts. She is Walkspace’s unofficial Welsh Ambassador and she looks after our blog.

Walkspace Members

Membership of Walkspace is open to anyone based in the West Midlands with a creative practice involving walking.
